Set in the high mountain desert of Northern Utah, Chalk Creek Ranch is just 30 minutes from Park City and the High Uintas. Horses trained at high altitudes have an aerobic edge in events, such as endurance racing and combined training. Months of conditioning at higher elevations raise their oxygen-carrying capacity above that of their peers who trained in lower areas.
Our horses are born and trained in the mountains, with green pastures to nurture their growth and easy-living, peaceful lives. The ranch property surrounds year-round- flowing Chalk Creek; pastures feature fallen timbers, hills, and trails where young horses learn excellent footing and become fearless of the natural landscape.
When you buy a Chalk Creek Ranch horse, you purchase an animal carefully bred and nurtured since birth. We encourage a proper education especially suitable for a "user-friendly" relationship with new owners. Our reputation as well as the health and future happiness of our horses depends on our commitment to support our customers after the purchase.
We emphasize safety in all dealings with horses and follow established guidelines in our farm safety program. We help customers make informed decisions about safety in their operations.
Vic Rainey and Pamela Chapman personally handle all aspects of ranch operations. They handle the horses' care, training, and obedience lessons; keep veterinary and financial records; plan the breeding program; place advertising; maintain pastures and fences; and yes, we even clean and groom each horse from the day of foaling to the day of sale.
